St.Andrews, like the rest
of North East Fife, needs a local champion – not just another establishment politician. The Scottish National Party
will always stand up for Scottish interests. That cannot be said of the discredited London-based parties.
The Liberal Democrats,
Conservatives and Labour have all promised savage cuts in public services. This would be a disaster for North East Fife, undermining
economic recovery and hitting our ability to protect vital services like education. St.Andrews needs an M.P. who will fight
these cuts. Scotland needs a party that will make its voice heard.
In Scotland the SNP Government
has abolished tolls on the Forth and Tay Bridges, reduced rates on small businesses and frozen Council
Tax for three consecutive years. We have helped students by abolishing the Graduate Endowment Fee. We have put 1000 more police
on the streets and set world-leading targets on the reduction of carbon emissions.
At Westminster SNP M.P.s have acted to protect local tourism - fighting Labour plans to abolish tax relief
on holiday lets. We have supported efforts to keep local Post Offices in business. We have opposed
Labour’s proposal to abolish Attendance Allowance and called for the restoration of the link between pensions and average
earnings.
